Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts was established in 2000. Originally a residence, the gallery had to be conceived within the confines of the given structure which the owner did not wish to alter. The gallery was revamped in 2012 by Jubair Hasan. The makeover resulted in opening up the interior to the natural environment outside. A final reconstruction by the same architect, with additional 8 floors was completed in 2018. The minimalist architectural language is a landmark in defining the highly successful public arts venue.
